Bendtner suffers set back

Nicklas Bendtner did not practice with the rest of the Danish national team today. The Danish attacker, who has been injured in just over a month, has suffered a set back.

Danish and international media reports today that Nicklas Bendtner will not be ready, when Denmark plays its first World Cup match against Holland at Soccer City in Johannesburg on Monday. The centre of all the attention, the main man himself is however optimistic.

- I have suffered a set back. My groin injury has been improving over a long period of time, but after practice yesterday, it is unfortunately sore again. This means that I could not practice with the rest of the team today. It is obviously not the best situation to be in, now that we are so close to our first match, but I hope to be ready before Monday, says Nicklas Bendtner and adds:

- It is frustrating not being able to participate in the practice. It is what I want to do most right now. But I have to listen to my body, and that is why I choose not to participate in the practice today, he says.

According to Nicklas Bendtner the set back is not due to being to eager, or attending practice before he was ready.

- We have been cautious and carefully followed my training program. We could not have done anything differently, says Nicklas Bendtner.
