Nicklas Bendtner, self-assured, brilliant striker, was born on January 16, 1988 in Copenhagen, capital of Denmark.
Nicklas Bendtner made his maiden national team appearance in the Under-16 category in 2004 and scored three goals in three starts. Later in 2006, he represented the Under-21 national team in 4 matches and scored 7 goals for the senior team of his country in 19 appearances. In a friendly match against Portugal at Copenhagen on September 1, 2006, his performance was brilliant, which helped the team to win (4-2). His impressive play was again witnessed in the game against the home country at Duisburg, Germany where Denmark scored 1 goal to win the friendly match. In the UEFA Euro 2008 Qualifiers at Belfast on November 17, 2007, Denmark with Nicklas Bendtner in its squad lost the match 1-2 against Northern Ireland. In another game of the same UEFA Euro 2008 Qualifiers, he played in the match where Iceland lost to Denmark (3-0).
Nicklas Bendtner has played for KB youth club during 2002-2004, Arsenal youth club (2004-2005), before moving to the senior club of Arsenal.
Nicklas Bendtner was loaned out to Birmingham City in August 2006, he scored 11 goals in 42 matches during his tenure. In his debut game for Birmingham City against Colchester United, Nicklas Bendtner came in as a substitute to score the winning goal in the final 30 minutes. His contribution helped Birmingham City to become the runner-up in the Football League Championship 2006-2007 and boosted their position to the FA Premier League.
On returning to Arsenal for the 2007-2008 Premier League season, Nicklas Bendtner signed a five-year contract with the club in May. He has scored 5 brilliant goals for Arsenal in 29 matches; the first competitive match-winning goal was scored by him at a Carling Cup match against Newcastle United, which helped his team win (2-0). His accuracy and speed in football helped the team to win 7-0 against Slavia Prague in the Champions League on October 23, 2007; he scored a goal in the 89th minute of the game, a highlight of the match. The second Champions League goal of Nicklas Bendtner was scored from a pass by Robin van Persie, his team mate, against Steaua Bucharest.
On December 22, 2007, Arsenal had a major victory against Tottenham at the Emirates Stadium, Nicklas Bendtner playing substitute, headed the pass from Cesc Fabregas, team mate, to a winning goal. It took only 1.8 seconds for Nicklas Bendtner to perform this winning feat, which is the fastest goal ever scored by a substitute. He played with Arsenal, which won the Amsterdam Tournament 2007 and 2008, and the Emirates Cup in 2007.
By scoring his first FA Cup goal against Burnley, Nicklas Bendtner contributed to his team’s victory (2-0) on Januray 20, 2008. If it had not been for his goal in the final minutes for the match against Aston Villa on March 1, 2008, Arsenal could not have drawn the match.
Nicklas Bendtner was awarded the 2004 ‘Danish Under-17 Player of the Year’ and 2007 ‘Danish Talent of the Year’.
